Leland E. Krug

Leland E. Krug, 82, of Morton, Ill., died at 9:39 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. He was a former resident of Du Quoin.
     
He was born March 14, 1926, in DuQuoin to Walter and Ethel (Woodyard) Krug. He married Glenna Jean Robinson on Aug. 22, 1948, in Sesser, Ill. She preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2001. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Krug.
    
Surviving are one son, Raleigh (Carol) Krug of Morton; two daughters, Karen (Tom) Phillips of Bartlett, Ill., and Kay (Kyle) Lennington of Metamora; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Ron Krug of Sedona, Ariz., and two sisters, Dorlis Kirchner of St. Charles, Mo., and Duaine (Bob) Wiggers of Clemson, S.C.

He was a World War II Army veteran, where he served in the South Pacific and received two Purple Hearts.

Lee worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Morton for over 20 years.

A private service will be held Saturday, May 17. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Restmor Building Fund in Morton or to the Central Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association in Peoria.
